Hi!!

Does anyone know if a tool exists to put into pans to separate the cake batter for half and half cakes? I use a cardboard cut to fit, but would love to find a tool that I could reuse. Any ideas?

Welcome to Cake Central!

I cover my cardbard with contact paper so it's reusable. They sell metal ones, but it just seems like a waste of money to me.

Also, a number of people on this site just prop one end of the pan up on a book or another pan, pour the batter into the low end, then pour in the other side, don't even use something to separate them. I'm going to try this the next time I have a multi-flavored cake.

Hello and WELCOME TO CC! I see this is your first post, if you are like the rest of us it isn't likely to be your last. I have two suggestions- the first is to put your pan on an incline (something under one end) pour your first batter in the lowest end. Make your second batter and set you pan flat. Pour your second batter in. They will run to met each other in the middle. No fuss No muss.
My second suggestion is to get a cup of coffee and comfy chair. You'll be here a while. ENJOY CC

Thank you for all of your replies!! I will be checking out all of the suggested websites.

I loved the contact paper idea, seems much less expensive. You could make one for every size as you need them and then you'll always have them.

Thanks again to all of you and I know we'll be talking again soon! icon_biggrin.gif

You could also have both batters ready to go and pour them in at the same time. They will meet in the middle and no mess of any tool. Works every time!
