I'm looking for a good icing recipe for Gobs. They seem to be a regional food, not many people on the western, central, or southern side of the U.S. seem to know what gobs are. My mother used a delicious crisco/powdered sugar recipe...Do you know another good icing recipe for them or another crisco/powdered sugar recipe?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

I have not heard of this before but I did a search on Google for gob icing and came it with several sites with recipes. Maybe one of those will help.

I remember Paula Deen making something called "gobs." Here is the link. I hope it's what you're looking for. icon_smile.gif

Some people call those "Whoopie Pies." Here is the icing I use:

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Sm. amount of milk
1 sm. jar marshmallow creme
1 (1 lb.) box confectioners' sugar

Cream the shortening and sugar and vanilla. Add the marshmallow creme and cream again, adding milk as necessary.

Great cupcake icing also. Crusts only a little bit ... eventually.
