Hi Everyone,

Yes, it's me again icon_lol.gif

I saw this cake torte on QVC about two years ago and wanted one but was to cheap...yes, to cheap to pay the twenty some dollars that they wanted.

Took my son to the doctor one day about a couple weeks ago and went into the gourmet shop and found the exact same cake torte and it was only $6.99...can you believe the difference in the price?

This really works on the round and the sheet cakes and gives a nice clean cut and it is adjustable.

What brand is this and what store did you get it from? If you don't know could you maybe call and find out so maybe I could find one in Texas. I want one like this. I have one my Mom got for me probably 15 years ago, but it is not wide enough for large cakes. I have been using fishing tackle for my large cakes and sometimes it is hard to keep the cut straight.

gma1956,

I don't know the company name because I threw the package away.

I purchased this from the Gourmet shop here...they are not national.

If you want one and have a Paypal account on e-bay, I will be glad to send you one for the cost of the item plus shipping. Just let me know.

lastingmoments,

This is the best, you can torte as thin as you want and the layers still have a clean cut.

Promise you that you won't be disappointed.

I've never seen that before! Cool! Is that a piece of copper wire in the pic? If so, what is that for?

Hey TC...I just missed you at the Cake Supply Store on Monday! She said that you were in there about 15 minutes before me!

tc and Misdawn, you are a crack-up. icon_lol.gif

The wire is sort of like dental floss. The teeth-like part goes into the cake.

The round tub-like part with the little lever is where you can move it up or down to the height that you need and then push the lever down and it locks in place.

You walk the whole thing around the cake and the wire goes into the cake and when you get to the end, you pull the wire through and there you are, nice clean layers.

looks easier to store than the wilton cutter. I didn't get how to use it either until leana put links on her post. The last 2 links show you how to use it.

If anyone wants one, let me know and will send it to you for the cost and the exact shipping...I'm sure the shipping will be way cheaper than purchasing it from the web.

Here is the Agbay I was talking about. The blade is so tight and sharp it sounds like a guitar string when you pluck it. It is awesome! And I have torted 1 2 inch cake with ease 5 times and could have done more.

Misdawn,

The little part with the teeth-like saw has wire at the end, you stick the tooth-like piece in the cake as far as it will go. When stick it in the cake, some of the wire will be in also and when you walk the gadget around the cake the wire will be pulled into the cake at the same time. After you make the full turn around the cake, the wire will be sticking out and you just pull both wires at a crisscross like motion and the wire will slid out and the layer is cut.

Let me know if you still don't understand.
