I just wanted to share this with you all. I was at the fruit market Friday and the cashier and I were talking and the topic of cake came up and I told her I did cake decorating and she got really excited and wanted to know if I would make her a Thanksgiving cake and of course I told her I would. But what she said next blew me away, here I was thinking turkey and she said Flamingo, yep she wants a cake with a Flamingo on it and said if I could make her one that this would really make her Thanksgiving, it's just funny what make people happy, thanks for listeningicon_smile.gif

You are right...that is a very strange request. However...for the weekend after Thanksgiving I will be doing a cake that looks like a cockroach! icon_smile.gif

I know...that is exactly what I was thinking. And the strange thing is that it is for a 4 year old girl's birthday party. That is the last thing my daughter would have wanted...she was totally into the princess pink stuff!!!

That is very strange! Why would a 4YO want a cockroach...ewwww! I guess I have no room to talk. My oldest (13 in a few weeks) wants PooPoo cupcakes for his birthday. They're to go along with a Stewy cake who will be in a diaper icon_confused.gif . Where did I go wrong...LOL! I don't even let him watch the show (Family Guy)!!!

My 4 year old daughter is into bugs! I have the author Eric Carle to thank for that. She has nearly all is books. Her favorite is The Very Clumsy Click Beetle. I made my first cupcake cake and FBCT from the character.

I think it's strange too. Did she say why a flamingo made her think Thanksgiving? Just curious icon_smile.gif Maybe it's a family story. I like to do that sometimes with my cakes...tie them into a funny family memory.

Lisa, she didn't say why, but I am curious now so I think when she picks it up I will ask her, all I know is when I told her I could do that for her she was really excitedicon_smile.gif

Well this is the Flamingo cake I was telling you all about that the lady wanted for Thanksgiving. She said that she collects Flamingo's and even has a tatoo on her ankle of one, so go figureicon_smile.gif

The flamingo cake looks great. thumbs_up.gif

I will be decorating the cocroach cake this weekend. I was going to make one big cockroach using my oval pans...but was having trouble getting a fat enough cake board. So I decided to do a 1/2 sheet cake with an edible image of a cockroach and another small cake that will be shaped like a cockroach. This is the best I can come up with. My daughter was so grossed out when we were looking for an image. Anyway...I will post pics soon. Hope I do not gross all of you out.! icon_wink.gif

The "pink turkey" cake looks wonderfully done, haha, go figure, but you made a customer happy and that is the main thing. Very cute! As for the roach cake, well I give you credit, I don't think I could do it without nightmares and the "heebeegeebees"!

Thanks! I am glad the lady is coming to my house to pick them up...I really would not want to deliver those!!!! icon_smile.gif

I guess the next kind of strange thing I will have is an armadillo groom's cake for a wedding in December. I guess the gross part is that the cake will be red velvet...makes me sick just thinking about it!!!! icon_razz.gif

So you are becoming the Weird Cakes Cake Lady of Houston? Haha, don't knock it, there is most definitely a market for it, you must be impressing people, you keep getting orders for unusual cakes. You know, I don't think I could do a bug cake, I would be too busy scratching, haha!
