maybe the cake batter was not thick enough. also add a little frosting and squeeze back together if the crack is not to bad. good luck

Are you using the Sponge Bob cakepan from Wilton or a slab cakepan??

Well, wasn't there an episode on Spongebob where he actually did split his pants? Maybe you could make a play on that and say that it was actually SUPPOSED to look like that! But really, I have repaired cracks with a little icing and let it dry and then filled in the uneven parts with another layer of icing. Don't think anyone really complains about getting extra icing on their piece. After all, there are only so many end pieces!

What I usually do on my cakes is to fill pan about 2/3 full of batter before baking. I then level off the excess and it gives the bottom a nice level surface when you take it out of the pan. I am thinking that might be the reason he split his pants. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

icon_redface.gif This might sound stupid but is the cake cool enough? I had that problem with a 9x13 pan. For some reason it would crack right down the center if I tried to remove it and it was even just a little bit warm...

I'm gonna go with Traci, if you have a large hump in the middle, and turn it out on to that hump, the sides don't have anything holding them up and they can slit. I believe it does say in the inserts to level or place cake under any spots that aren't as thick as the others.

i think it might be the hump too...try to level it somewhat b4 you flip it onto the cooling rack..this way there will be no dome under it to make it crack in half....
