Decorating By sweetsuccess Updated 16 Nov 2005 , 5:47pm by GenesisCakes
We have quite a few members in the NY area...I'm hoping someone will see your post and be able to give you some info! Sorry I wasn't able to help!!
Maybe we should start our own cause I don't know of any...then again I haven't really searched for one....but I would feel more
comfy knowing we are all CC people....
Who is from NY and where are you from?
I, myself, am in Brooklyn.
i am also from brooklyn.
can we get more information about the NY people getting together????
I'm in Staten Island, but originally from Brooklyn. I'm really glad I'm not the only one who is interested in a Cake Club.
so how can we get everyone together and organize this????
is there a good cake store around here? where do you get your cake supplies from?
I LIVE IN PORT JERVIS, NY. IT IS WHERE NY, NJ, AND PA ALL COME TOGETHER. IT IS ABOUT 2 HOURS AWAY FROM THE CITY. I WOULD BE INTERESTED.
I go to the NYC Cake & Baking Supply Company (formerly the Chocolate Gallery) on W. 22nd between 5th and Ave. of the Americas, NYC. Not too friendly but they have a large selection of products. I buy my gumpaste tools from Scott Clark Woolley who has a studio on W. 73rd Street and Amsterdam, NYC.
Sweetsuccess....I used to go to school at SVA in on 21st & 6th...they had some studios there.....
the main building is on 23rd near 2nd ave.
Why don't we all pick a cafe and just have coffee one afternoon or evening...or even morning....
what is best for you guys? Any venue suggestions? I've never done anything like this so even non-New Yorkers.....please give us any suggestions....thanks!!!
Henna, I don't know of a cake store in Brooklyn, although I'm sure there must be a few. Maybe we can all start thinking about a place to meet. I'm sure someone will come up with a good idea.
Adven68, your suggestion is great! I know the area. There's a Starbucks nearby on 6th. During the week, late afternoon is best. Saturdays I'm generally flexible. Pick the day and I'm there.
I'm in northern NJ and belong to the Confectionary Arts Guild (CAG). Please contact president Robin Giunta at [email protected]
[email protected] can be contacted for a copy of the latest CAG newsletter which contains an application to join CAG. We usually meet 3-4 times per year. In the past few years we have had Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes, Collette Peters, Toba Garrett and Betty Van Nordstrom as well as our own talented members give demonstrations at the meetings. I have to say that I have been exposed to so much at these meetings that it has made me want to up my game so to speak.

Thanks VickiC, I will do that. Which city in NNJ is the club located. Can I take the Path or Port Authority Bus?
Lately we have had our meetings at the VFW in Rahway because it's centrally located for members in both North and South Jersey . I don't know about public transportation to get there. We actually have quite a few members that come from NYC but I believe they drive. Once you receive the newsletter you can figure out if the trip is doable for you. Hope to see you there!
ok so all those in favor of meeting at a coffee shop in the city one afternoon say ME!!!!
once we know who is interested then we can start planning something concrete.
Looks like there are quite a lot of NYers here..if you scroll down you'll see another thread on this subject..there are a few of us that were planning a meeting in the next month in the city so perhaps we can all merge groups..I believe the plans as of now are to hook up at cupcake cafe..not sure of the date off hand though..need to check my calander in the am
lol..yes and I'm so gonna pay for it tomorrow..Kids up early, laundry and I take my 1st course 1 class tomorrow night..I'm getting psyched for it though lol
The meet up that cute cookie mentioned is on Sat Dec 3rd at the Cupcake cafe 2:00p.m. About 5 other women including myself and cute cookie are planning to meet up there. Should anyone be interested shoot me out an email to [email protected]
Who knows maybe this can turn into something.
