Daytime is definitely the peak time. You can get an idea of when traffic is highest by scrolling to the bottom of the forums front page. There you will find a report of how many people have accessed the forums during the last 5 minutes. If you visit the site at different times of day, you can get a feel for when the traffic lightens up..
