Any idea why the pages load SOOOO slow?

My computer is fairly new and therefore pretty fast. I'm not on dial up either, so I can't figure out why each page takes 10-15 seconds at least to load. Is there some setting to make pages load faster? Is it just the site? I'm aggravated to the point of just giving up trying to use the site because it's so frustrating. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea why some members experience slowness. It is almost never slow here, and the servers are located several states away from us.

It can be slower when the site is loaded with lots of people, but that is a function of the growth rate of the community.

The server loads have been excellent lately, so its not a matter of the server being overloaded.

Hey Carrie,

If you could throw a couple bucks into the CC donation pot, it will help keep things running. icon_smile.gif

And the more donations, the better the site will run!

The pages seem to load fine in the forums, it's mainly in the galleries that the pages are so slow. Maybe it's just all of the pics making it slow. I appreciate you answering me.

I have the same problem with the pages loading slow and I also have High Speed. There are times when it is chugging along and then the page doesn't even open. I get frustrated and come back later. All I can think of is that a lot of people are on the site. This is the only site I have this problem with.

I have also found that the gallery pages are loading very slowly. I was in the uncommented section today to offer compliments, and several photos that I tried to bring up timed out before I could bring up the full page.

Well, at least I'm not the only one experiencing slow pages! I will donate to CC, but I don't think that it should be fast for some and not for others. I'm not a computer person, but that doesn't make sense to me.

Can you imagine if everyone here donated just $10 dollars? That would be so wonderful for CC.

Yes, I too have donated. $5.00 per month so far.

Slowness of pages loading can fall under a number of reasons:

1. Geographic location
2. Your isp
3. The Site hosting provider

overloading can also come into play, as well as bad website programming / coding ( not saying it is )

It can happen because it all depends on traffic of the specific pages you are trying to access at and exact moment compared to other user requests to the servers. Also because there are multiple servers, it can depend on which server your request was routed to and how many other people were routed to the same machine. Then there are also differences in the quality of internet connections. All high speed connections are not the same...

I have had some problems with pages loading etc. but have also noticed that this is normally during what I would consider peak times of the day. If the server space is limited and lots of folks are on at the same time things are going to be slow. For example right now things are going very fast but it is 12:40 am and I would make a guess that not so many people are on here right now. I know it can be frustrating at times, but we have to take into consideration that resources are limited and it takes a lot of time and $ to run this site and Jackie and Heath are doing the best they can. Ok I will get off my soap box now. icon_smile.gif Not even sure if that is the right term, but you get my jest. LOL

I am new and am very much enjoying CC but I also find it a real pain waiting for things to upload, and sometimes they don't at all.
But I should say that I find that it is much worse during the daytime hours for some strange reason.
