Any suggestions for a yummy crusting chocolate buttercream icing recipe that you've tried and like a lot? I looked in the recipe section, and found the "crusting buttercream (faux fondant) 2." I would love a recipe that someone uses and loves- how is this one?

thanks!

I just happen to have made a cake with chocolate buttercream...I am about to cover it with ganache....but the buttercream came out sooooooooo delicious....it's basically the Wilton recipe plus some...

1/2 cup butter
1/2 crisco......cream these together first then add:
1 lb. confectioners sugar

BUT instead of the vanilla extract...I added orange extract....
1 Tbls orange yummy extract

2 Tbls milk

a few Tbls (I used 3 squirts) corn syrup (Karo) ...add more or less depending on the consistency you want

The orange makes the chocolate just pop! It's really awesome and so easy! Have fun!

I basically use the Wilton Chocolate buttercream...but use all Butter Flavored Crisco!
