Has anyone here ever had Sachertorte? How does it taste? Would you recommend the recipe listed on this site? Thanks. Any info on this cake would be really appreciated.

That's my absolute favourite chocolate cake! It tastes heavenly and REALLY rich.

It is the signature cake of a hotel in Sacher. Thus, it's name. icon_lol.gif That's in Austria I believe?

The dense chocolate cake is brushed with warm apricot preserves, covered in a thin layer of marzipan and then iced with chocolate ganache. YUM YUM YUM!!!!

Traditionally, the word "Sacher" is writted across the cake in chocolate too.

Thanks for the info. I knew about the apricot preserves but I didn't know about the marzipan. Do you have a recipe that includes the marzipan? I haven't seen a recipe calling for some marzipan. Thanks.
