I'm decorating a cake for my sister's baby shower on Saturday. Due to a very busy Thursday and Friday night, I'm thinking about doing the cake on Wednesday night. Is this too early? If so, I can possibly bake it Friday before bed and hurry to do it Saturday morning, but I'd rather not rush. However, I don't want it to be dried out. I'm just using a normal cake mix, and buttercream icing with shortening, no butter or milk so it can sit out. I have one of the new Wilton cake/cupcake carriers that I can cover it with.

Thanks for any help you can give! icon_smile.gif

I would think as long as there is nothing in the icing to spoil and you put it in the carrier in a cool dry place, it should be fine. The icing and the cover will keep the cake from drying out. I have baked and decorated a cake on a Thursday before that was due on a Saturday and it was fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

Shouldn't be a problem...I have done this before with no problems.
