Ugggghhhh!!

My first real cake disaster icon_cry.gif . I was making the super enhanced chocolate cake from the recipe here at CC and it called for a 9" pan. When I poured the batter in the pan, it filled almost the whole pan. Hmmm..Mistake #1. So, I told myself well it should be fine, never been a problem before (Mistake #2). Popped the cake in the oven. Didn't think much about it until I went to take my lunch dishes into the kitchen and smelled something burning. Turned on the light for the oven...crap, the cake has totally spilled over the pan and all the way down to the bottom of the oven. icon_mad.gif At this point, I decided what's the difference, I'm sure it will be fine so I let it finish baking (Mistake #3). Timer went off, checked to make sure it was cooked in the center. Woooo Hooo!!! The cake will be okay, kinda sunk in the middle and there is a split in one side, but I can just use this as the bottom...right? (Mistake #4) WRONG!!! Went to take the cake out after it cooled and it was stuck. icon_cry.gif It finally came out, still uncooked in a big area of the pan and came out in pieces. So...the whole cake went to the garbage.

Went to start baking another cake and turned on the oven to preheat. Couldn't figure out why I was smelling cake baking. Crap...forgot to clean out the oven. DUH!!!! Turn the oven back off and scrape cake out of the oven.

At least the cakes I just took out turned out okay. thumbs_up.gif

I feel you. That can be so frustrating! I'm the last batch turned out well.
