I am making the 3D spiderman cake for my sons birthday. I would like to put fresh straberries inbetween the two 10" rounds and try to put some between the shoulder pieces. Any tips on how to do this so that my cakes dont turn to mush.

what your going to want to do is add a thin layer of your whipped cream or your buttercream frosting first... Make sure that you slice up the strawberries before you do anything and lay them out on to a paper towel this way the towel will take must of the liquid and then just place them on to the frosting and put your cake top back on and frost your cake .. good luck..

how long should i let them lay out on the paper towel? On the counter or in the fridge??? I would like to get most of the cake decorated the night befor as i will be cooking the meal for the party as well. Do you think the strawberries will be fine or should i get up early and do it that morning? The party is at 3 pm. Thanks for the tip.

I would just slice them put them on the towel and then start on the cake and when your ready for the berries put them on the cake I would not let them sit there any longer then that just on the counter..

I dont know why you could not do it the night before like you want to ...

Lisa did the same cake andf she posted her pic on this site. She also posted her step by step instructions under cake decorating. I dont think she used strawberries though.
