I'm sure this has been asked before and I missed it but how long does MMF keep and what is the very best way to store it? I actually saw another website where the lady swears by keeping it in the fridge until using but I tried that with mine last time and when I laid it out to use, it did soften up but it had become more crumbly and harder to work with.

I made some that ended up being a little softer than than I wanted to work with, but I wrapped it and threw it on a shelf.

About a week plus later I decided ...to use it...it was fine. A little hard, but I threw it into the microwave for about 10 seconds!

IT was great!

Thank you diva. I didn't think there was anything in it that would cause it to spoil but I was worried when she said she keeps hers refrigerated. I'll just store it in the cupboard.

I'd also like to suggest adding a little Crisco (just a very little) if your fondant is too dry. I usually just add a little to my hands before working with any fondant I've had stored for any length of time. It adds the moisture you need and makes the fondant so much easier to work with. : )

To extend the "shelf-life" of MMF, flatten it into a disk, tightly wrap it in plastic wrap, then wrap it again and store it in an airtight container. If you plastic wrap is loose, that area will dry out and the ball of fondant won't roll smooth.

When you are ready to use it, give it a few seconds in the microwave and knead it a bit-carefully, the middle may get hot.

I had some for weeks in a drawer and it managed to make roses from it.

How long will it take for mmf to harden. I tried making a bow and five days later, the pieces were still breaking when I tried to put them together.

I recently made some leaves from MMF and allowed them to dry for a full week before placing them on their little trunks. They were still a little flexible, but held their shape perfectly. You can see my cake at http://cakespace.blogspot.com/
