Hi guys....I just added my brand new Canon printer to the other 1,000 things I have hooked up to my system...

I put in the food color ink cartridges and I have the edible paper....so now....do I just use my programs to get the image I want an print it out? I guess there's no real "testing" that I could do, is there?

Anyway...once I figure that part out and I actually have the printed sheet....can I cut it and use part of it on one cake and part on another? Do I need to store it in any specific way....does it dry out?

And lastly but most importantly.....do I just place the image on fondant? Will it adhere just like that or is there something I must do, like wet it or say 3 hail Mary's or something?

I received the order very quickly from Sugarcraft...but they assume you know everything cause it didn't come with any directions...

Thanks guys!!!!

Hi adven68,

You can use just about any program to print, or you can use KopyKake Desktop Decorator software if you have the option to download it (I don't know if you can download it for free if you didn't buy from them).

Yes you can print multiple pictures on the same frosting sheet and then cut them out with a razor blade. I actually prefer to do it this way.

I put my frosting sheets back in the ziplock bag they came in until I am ready to use them. If they stay out yes they will dry out and crack. You can still draw or stamp on them but don't put them through the printer if this happens.

When I put frosting sheets on fondant I use a little piping gel brushed on. Hope I could be of some help.

Lisa has an e-book all about edible images, I'm sure if you pm her she will let you know more.

Congrat on the addition to your collections..you're going to have a blast!

While I am no expert, I have done many, many edible image cakes..as you can see by my photo gallery pics!

You can use any sort of clipart progam for images....or even pull some from the internet. Pics can be manipulated in all sorts of ways!

If you want to just play...try printing some images out on regular paper, instead of wasting the frosing sheets. Note the margins on the frosting sheets!

If you are putting a frosting sheet on fondant then it will require a bit a piping gel to adhere. If you are putting a frosting sheet on buttercream, you can lay it on there before it crusts over OR I like to wait until it has crusted over a little bit..that way I can move the sheet around if I place it on there crooked. If the buttercream has completely frosted it is ok to spritz the BC with a little water and then put the frosting sheet on top.

Enjoy...hope this helps you get started!!

I also enjoy using my canon printer. I have another printer hooked up to my computer and usually print a test page on that printer so i do not waste my edible ink. If you have trouble getting the backing off the frosting sheet...you can stick it in the freezer for a minute or two and it wil peel right off. You can also smooth gently with a viva paper towel once you have placed it on your cake. icon_smile.gif
