Anybody got any creative teacher birthday cake ideas? Apples are out (she doesn't like them), her favorite color is green. The kids (15 - 8 & 9 y.o.) and some parents will be enjoying the cake. It's a surprise party for the teacher at a private school for academic and artistically gifted children.

What subjects does she teach?

Maybe find out what some her hobbies are or favorite interests. What subjects does she teach? Maybe there would be inspiration there?

Maybe even do the school logo or mascot?

She teachs "3rd" grade but all the kids are all advanced in one subject or another. She teaches everything except: dance, drama, art, music, and PE, she does all the acedemic subjects for the kids. I think this is her 17th year at the school.

I do 3-D cakes and sculptures. I also hand mold my own figurines. Would like to do something along that line but I'm a little burned out so don't want to do something too elaborate but still up to what everybody expects of me when it comes to my cakes. So a flat 1/2 sheet cake with writing on it is out of the question.

Like a said, I'm a little burned out so I was hoping to tap into the "brain trust" here on CC for ideas. 15000 heads are better than one!

Could check out the 'Back to school cakes' contest pictures in the photo gallery as there are some neat ideas there.

I like the black board idea. You can actually make a large cookie as the black board ( NOT FLAT!! Proped up!) and write school stuff on it and make 3d kids. Flag, etc.

You could always do a sheet cake and make like name plates and put all the kids name on it ..or you could have the kids if u can write 1 thing they really like about the teacher and do the top 15 things we like about you them and make it look like a piece of lined paper ... Good Luck !!

KlKhoneycutt, Great idea!!! I like the "1 thing they really like about her" I think I'm starting to develop an idea of a 3-ring binder (cake) with sheets of paper (rice paper) with the kids writing thier own birthday praise on it. She could turn the pages on the cake to read them... then eat them!!! This was the kids could really get involved each writing their own page (rice paper and edible ink pens). That good... I like your suggestion!!! thumbs_up.gif Now, gotta think how am I going to do this.... icon_confused.gif
