I made a chocolate cake using Pillsbury Devil's food with the cake mix extender. Well.... I beat all the ingredients for three minutes and it was nice and smooth. Then I realized I forgot to add the oil. Soooo after it was all mixed together I added the oil and beat again for another minute or so. Do you think this will be okay or will it bake funky?
I would think it will probably bake okay. I watched a segment on Food Network once about cake mixes. The are made to withstand most of the errors a home-baker can make! Good Luck!
I ALWAYS beat all of the (mix) ingredients together and THEN add the oil. I have found it blends better this way. When you put the mix, egg, water and oil in together ..... well, oil and water don't mix, but oil and batter seem to mix much better!
Been doing it this way for 25 years.

Amen to that! lol Being very much a newbie I just use box mix. I have done it all, including using milk instead of water and whole eggs instead of just the whites in classic white cake. But nobody ever seems to notice. Since I am just learning box cakes are easier, faster, and do just fine for me! Have a good one!
It should not be a problem. At least you did not start baking it and then remember you forgot an ingredent like someone else I know. Blush lets just say she a very close friend of mine.
