Does anyone know if you can cut out shapes from fondant (Wilton's) after it has dried? I thought I'd use a small cookie cutter to cut the shapes, but its on the side of the cake and the first time I tried it the fondant "streched" when I cut the hole and then put it on the cake. It was SO bad! I want to try again...can I cut it after the fondant has dried some?

thanks in advance!

I would cut shapes when it is soft and fresh. I would think it would break and crumble if it was dry. Once you cut tyour shapes then you can dry it out

Are you trying to cut out of the fondant that you layed over the cake? The best way I have seen to do it, is to cover your cake with fondant, then using your cutter, cut it out. You don't have to wait for it to dry, you can do it right after you cover your cake.

thanks... I tried that, but after I cut it out, the fondant streched and you can see cake/buttercream underneath of the cut out (it's on the side fo the cake) and it looked horrible!

thanks anyway!
