Hey everyone,
The picture below is the cake that my latest customer wants. The only problem is that she want's me to add a "Happy 40th Anniversary Marianne & Frank". Of coarse I said sure I can do that and now and perplexed as to where to put it without taking away form the existing decoration. Any ideas would be great. I'm hoping to accent the letters with silver to compliment the dragees.
Thanks,

If you can do fondant, I would do a simple fondant banner draped across with the words on it. I would paint the banner with pearl dust if possible.

Maybe you can do an elegant sign that has the words written in silver luster dust, with the same style scroll work in the corners. Do the sign in fondant or gum paste. Something simple yet fancy enough to compliment the cake. The cake looks beautiful.

I like the fondant banner Idea from alimonkey. That would be pretty.

I like the fondant drape/banner idea too. The scrollwork you did is beautiful.

If you could make a really elegant plaque with some sort of easel back to stand to the side of your cake would be very pretty ... I don't know if I'd do a banner across such a gorgeous cake!! I'd be afraid it would take away from the cake itself....

In that case you could put the cake on a larger board and put the plaque or swag in front of it. You could also write on the board itself. That is something I do a lot as I often struggle with my writing so it makes it easier to correct any mistakes.

Just had another thought....The cake woud also look great on a fondant covered cake drum with some lovely trim glued to the outside, and it would really set of the plaque or swag with the writing on it and the cake would still speak for itself!
