I FINALLY got a cake order. It's for this saturday and it's a Disney Princess theme party. I have free reign over the design as long as it fits the theme. I do have to put tiaras on the cake. The mother just mentioned if I could pipe/draw some tiaras on the cake. Come on, I can do better than that.....so that's why I've come here!

I would love to know if anyone has made any 3D tiaras to place on a cake. I have to start making the cake tomorrow and will need to make them as soon as I can!!!!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Here's one I found on here:

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=allby&member_id=11467&cat=0&pos=3

You might PM her to see how she did it.

I also found these:

Hope this helps.

I've seen some really neat ones made from gumpaste or fondant.

Have you tried doing a google image search for 'crown cake' or 'tiara cake'? Someone I know does them is Sharon, You can find her cakes at http://www.sharonssugarshack.com/. She may be able to give you some advice on them.

Thank you for the pictures! They are beautiful! I want the tiara to be delicate but I don't think I have enough time for that. I'll have to try tomorrow to make one. What should I use to form it?

Not sure if this is helpful..but, you could purchase the tiara/crown cookie cutter and use that to cut the fondant then place it over something round...maybe a small cake pan to form it....

You can cut one out of fondant and place it on a pitcher or pan to shape it or pipe a tiara with royal icing in the flat and then lay it over a pitcher or pan to set up.

I think a crisco can would work great to shape it, depending on how big you make it.

I was thinking that you might be able to use wax paper covered cups and royal icing. Maybe tape the pic of a tiara to the cups and cover with wax paper. Then use the royal icing to draw out the design and let dry. Maybe styrofoam cups? Just an idea. Don't know if it helps at all.

I did these awhile back out of gumpaste... very, very easy. The crown/tiara is just a single length of molded lace, formed into a circle, then dried and pearl dusted. The pedestal is a circle of gumpaste draped/dried over an upended custard cup. HTH!

OMGoodness! These are all great suggestions!!!!! As much as I don't like to make royal because then I have to use it all up right away, I'll make it out of royal and then dry it over one of my pitchers. The handle on the pitcher will keep it from rolling over. I just have to make sure the royal sets enough so when I lay it on the pitcher it doesn't run all over the place.

Oh you all are so wonderful! Thank you thank you for the ideas. If I have any issues icon_rolleyes.gif while making it, I'll be back on here! I'll be starting it today so wish me luck!

Thanks a bunch! I didn't start out with the intention of making one tho'... I was just playin' around that day with some new molds that I'd gotten and couldn't bring myself to throw away that pretty strip of lace. I figured that I could make something out of it. icon_biggrin.gif
