I received a letter from my county's health and sanitation guy stating that I could sell my cakes from home from a non licensed kitchen. This applies to non potentially hazard foods such as breads, cookies, fruit pies, jams, jellies, preserves, fruit butters, honey, sorghum, cracked nuts, dry cake, dry bread and dry soup mixes.
The statue was revised on 8/28/05. This is for Johnson County, Missouri. You need to check with your county to see if this applies to your county, You do have to put a label with :
-the name and address of the producer
-Common name of the food
-A list of the ingredients in the food
-a statement that "The product is prepared in a kitchen that has not been inspected by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services".
I am in a licensed kitchen now but it's nice to know I have this option. The only thing is having to label it and if people would care that the kitchen is licensed or not.
