I bought a sheet with a buncha farm/barnyard animals on it. I am wondering how you make the animals with different colors. Like the black and white on the cow, the feathers on the rooster, different colored mane and tail on the horse. All I know is to pour the melted chocolate in the mold till it hardens...but how do you make them the right colors?
(its for a barnyard cake)

Remember the old paint-by-number kits? They were good practice for doing this! With a small paintbrush, paint the melted chocolate on the (for example) mane and tail of the horse. Put the mold in the frig long enough for the chocolate to harden. Then paint another part. 'Frig again till choc hardens. Once you have all the little "numbers" painted, then you pour in the melted chocolate to fill the mold. Once it's all hardened, it will pop out with your diff colors in place. I even use a toothpick to put colored choc in some really small places.

I was just going to add that I use toothpicks sometimes for the different colors - flowers for example.
Great tutorial indydebi!!! thumbs_up.gif

...so this is where all the different colored candy melts come in to play I guess...???
Could I do this with white chocolate if I colored it?

Heck, all I use is white chocolate that I color! Easier to buy the white chocolate in bulk, I can pull a teaspoon or so out of the big batch and color just that amount, and I got tired of having partially opened bags of colored candy melts that were looking a little "tired", if ya know what I mean! icon_wink.gif

I now only use the different colored wafers for my colors because I use so much. But you can color the white choc. by using candy colors.

Candy colors? Couldnt I just use americolor or Wilton gel paste? Or does that not work with melted chocolate?

I found those little plastic bottles on the candy isle there at Michael's... I thought this were useable for the candy melts... are they? They have the thin nose on them. I only bought them because I bought the double sided hearts and was going to do pink and red trimmed in white.. does anyone know about that?

Also where do you buy your white chocolate in bulk, that is a great idea? I have always bought the colors and some seasons they don't have what I want, like pale blues and greens.. you can get them now but mid to late fall you can't!

You have to use candy colors or the chocolate will seize. The gel colors have water in them.
