I am looking into a canon printer to do edible images....I found a canon printer at sam's club that is a printer, scanner in one for $149.00. Will the edible inks fit all canon printers or just certain models?

It only fits certain models but the list is long. Do you know the model #?

Hey southernbelle--
I got my Canon ip4000 from Ebay for around $49.00 (with shipping it was about $72.00). Brand new. Then I ordered the colors and edible sheets from Sugarcraft--They have a package with 4 color cartridge and 24 sheets for about $70.00. Haven't been disappointed yet.

BTW--be sure and read feedback on ebay seller. I only try to buy from 99% to 100% ratings. Been burned 2 times from less than that--before I became so Ebay proficient.

Sorry if this is a stupid question icon_redface.gif but, do you have to have a special kind of printer to print the edible images?

I know a lot of us here have either the canon ip1500, ip3000, or the ip4000. I like the ip3000 because I print a lot of images and the ink lasts longer in that one. I bought mine from office depot and my ink and frosting sheets from kopykake.

No you don't have to have a special printer but the cartridges are only made to fit certain Canon Printers. Here's the info you'll need from Sugarcraft which is the best resource. They tell you how to do it all and will save you $$$ since you won't have to purchase a system already put together...you can put one together yourself for a lot less $.

I bought my printer from Amazon.com but I think eBay is also a great place to buy. Look for new and not refurbished from a reputable seller.

southernbelle, I don't think it would be practical to have the combination printer that you are talking about since your image printer has to be dedicated to use only the edible inks. Even if the cartridges would fit this combination printer, you would have to print everything with the edible inks. Janice
