Hi Everyone!

What do you all use to support your stacked cakes? I am looking at doing my first "seriously-in-need-of support" stacked cake in December. I've thought about purchasing Arlene Haase's stress-free suppport system that Earlene touts, but it is very expensive and I'm not professional (yet?). The Bakery Crafts catalog has their Single Plate system which looks good and is very inexpensive. (But, does it work?) I know there is also Wilton, but I'm not a huge fan of their stuff. (I'll get it if that is what all advise)

The cake will be five tiers. Two 12x18 rectangles together on the bottom and then 14,12,7,and 6 inch rounds all stacked.

All advice would be appreciated. I don't want to re-invent the wheel when there is so much experience on this board. Thanks so much in advance.

I use the Wilton sets...never had any problems.

Have seen the ones that you are talking about and would love to give it a try.

I've looked at the Stress Free Support system too but just haven't felt the need. I have used the Wilton plates and pillars for tiered cakes with no problems. For stacked cakes I just use wooden dowels and cake boards with no problems either.
