I am going to make a christening cake and I need to use a cake stand. It will be two tiers, I am wish to make it along the lines of the Wilton Sweet Baby Dreams design (it is a really sweet design), however I need to use the type of cake stand they use. I have telephoned a couple of suppliers here in Australia and the cost of the Wilton stand is approximately $140.00 Australian Dollars (quite a lot I think) does anyone have any ideas on what I can substitute for the Wilton stand. I would really appreciate any help as this is all new to me.
Thank You
Annalisa

**I bought this stand about a month ago, and I love it! I also plan on using it for hor dourves and stuff at the bridal shower that I am having in about 1 1/2 weeks.
Thanks m0use!
Since you won't be using the whole set. You could just purchase the parts you needed. You can also make it smaller if you wanted.

seems to me what you need is a center column stand, first i would look to see if you have something there available to you. There must be something more local, that would be cheaper for you. Other then that if you have a nice tall candle stick, glue that to a board top and bottom, then use the double plate method of stacking. Shouldn't be to hard to improvise.
Those are really good prices! I really like that cake too! I want to do a baby shower cake so bad!!! But I don't know anyone who's pregnant!! One day!!!
tcturtelshell- you could make that cake an donate it to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at your local hospital, I bet they would really like that, as would the parents that may in that unit with their little babies
If you are crafty in the areas of knitting, crocheting, or sewing- you could also bring along some preemie sized clothing to donate with the cake. The hospital staff would really like that.
About 6-8 months ago I donated some things that I had made to the hospital that my son and 2 nephews had been born at, and I think next time I do that I will also bring a cake along as well. My youngest nephew was born 4 weeks premature, so donating stuff to the NICU is something that is truly from my heart.
