I just completed my first paid cake this weekend. I was caught off guard with the order and when they asked how much I would charge I guess I was scared of scaring them away and saied $25.00. It was a 11x15 cake with Halloween decorations and an edible image on it that they picked out. Do you think I undercharged or do you think it was fair pricing? Also, Do you think the cake even looks good enough to sell? Please be honest- I can take it.
Thank you,
Crystal

I charge $30-$35 for that size cake ... I also would have to take into consideration the additional cost of the edible image, so I probably would have charge $35 for the cake .. btw, you did a great job on it!

OMG...of course it looks good enough to sell!!!! And yes, I think you certainly could have charged more! I understand though, you have to be comfortable with your price. Maybe when you gain more confidence you will feel more comfortable with charging more! Your cake looks great!! Congrats on your first paid order!

That is a really wonderful cake!

I like to take into account how many icing colors I have to mix (I don't know if anyone else agrees, but I find that its a real pain in the you know what to mix up lots of colors...) so I usually try to charge for that. And you got it to be such a nice shade of orange!

Don't be scared of charging for your work, the mess you make, the annoying tip-cleaning process -- all of that counts.
