I would like a recipe for a "no crust" buttercream icing. Also, a good recipe for one that will stand up to high humidity would be appreciated!

well i use the wilton recipe for buttercream icing which is 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract, 4 cups confectioner sugar, and 2 tablespoons milk. However im not sure if its no crust. When i have made it has gotten a little stiff but thats all, i hope its of some help, i will try to do some web searching see if i find anything,

For this you want to use a product called Stay Ice its a powder you put right in to your frosting mix.. Its a stablizer and will help with the humidity so your icing does not melt.. Now that dose not mean that you can place the cake in the sun...

1 1/2 cups Sweetex shortening
2 lbs powder sugar
1 Tablespoon Stay Ice
2 teaspoons Vanilla or flavoring of choose

Mix it all together just like you would your frosting recipe..

You could also use meringue powder, couple teaspoons. The reason I say that. Is I live in the south pretty humid here.

Here is another Non-Crusting Buttercream Recipe

Is that really only 2 Cups of powdered sugar?
