Has anyone ever tried to make one of Colette's cakes?

I just bought her 2 books, Birthday Cakes and Cakes to Dream on and there are isntructions for the advanced cake decorator to make the cakes in the books.

Just wondering has anyone ever tried the directions or attempted some of her cakes?

They are absolutely divine but so intricate, so complex, I just am in awe. I would love to try one.

Start with one of least complicated cakes and work your way up... I've only made one from her books, but I've wanted to try others.. Maybe someday!! Here's the cake I did...

I would be afraid to try that. I have a hard enough time getting my cakes to stand up straight.

Haha, well I do so love Mr. Fishy Goes to Supper, that is perfectly done! Also love the hat and purse, you did a perfect job too! Wow, Colette would be so proud of both of you!

I've done 3 versions of one of her cakes, they are posted in my gallery.

my daughters wedding cake..the blackand white photo...my final pink cake for torte class and the beige version.

The 2 versions that are here, well, they are so good I thought they were from the books!..lol

..thank you so much! The scales were made by pressing the fat end of a decorting tube into the fondant.
