My Storybook Cake Is Done! Here It Is!

Hello.....my husband and I collaborated on a storybook cake scene for our niece. We came up with the idea to do a Cinderella pumpkin cake after it turned midnight, with a little doll sitting on top and little mice looking on, all with a beautifully painted backdrop. Since my husband is such a wonderful artist, he did the sculptures and the fairy tale castle 3-D backdrop. The two of us also collaborated on the pumpkin cake. He sculpted that too to make it look like a squat, fat cinderella pumpkin. I tried to get the fondant a little dry so that it looked like the pumpkin had natural imperfections, and then we cocoa painted it to try to make it look like a natural pumpkin, complete with bumps and scars. The whole process took us a month to complete, little by little!
When she is all done with the cake, she has a beautiful backdrop to play with and to do puppet shows with. I am hoping the sculptures keep for her...we'll see!
I am posting a few photos to give you some angles on it! I will also post one or two to my photos. Thanks for looking! I'll let you know what they all thought of the cake scene!

That my dears, is quite simple a masterpiece! You are both blessed with the max in talent, that is simply amazing! My goodness, the backdrop is wonderfully done, reminds me of the old days when book illustrators made a story come alive. It looks like something out of a really well done story book and yet better, a true piece of art. I am in awe, can you tell?
