Hi,
I could use some help--How do you make fall leaves? Do you paint them or put the color in the icing. How do you get the leaves to look so real?
Any advice would be very helpful..Thanks so much
I've seen them a few different ways. You can either buy them on sugarcraft.com or you could make them out of fondant or gumpaste, use a leaf veiner and paint them with petal dust or if you have a air brush you could use that. Or you can also take a real leaf and "paint" melted chocolates onto it. (make sure the real leaf if clean)

Hi I made some fall leaves by tinting MMF different fall colors. Then I took small amounts from each color I wanted and kind of mixed it together-not so much that it all turns the same color-but enough so that you can't tell where one color starts and the other ends, then rolled it out as thin as I could and used a leaf cookie cutter to cut them out and drew the veins on with the back of a knife.
I also put crumpled up paper in a 9x13, and layed the leafs on it to dry. That way they dry crinkled up and not flat and perfect.
Hope I helped you. I am the one who did it and I think I actually confused myself. Hope you understand!!
That's a great idea about the crumpled paper. I never would have thought about that. So simple & cheap. Thanks for the idea!
I posted how I make my leaves here... http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-9593.html
