Is it fairly easy to tint Satin Ice or do you think it's better to buy the premixed colors? It seems like the smallest quantity of it I've found is 5 pounds and if I only need a little bit of a certain color, I'd hate to buy a whole 5 pound tub of it. Thanks!

Samantha,
You can definitely tint Satin Ice. Depending on how much of a color you need, you just knead the color in and adjust it to get the desired color. I would say for small amounts for detail and things, tinting it your self is fine but for large amounts its better to buy the precolored just because you'd get really tired kneading color into a pound of fondant! Besides if you don't use the whole thing, it lasts for months if its stored correctly.

Heather

Thanks Heather! That's kind of what I thought, but didn't want to make the assumption. icon_wink.gif

I tinted some today. The only thing was it got pretty sticky. So I had to add powdered sugar. Anyone else ever have to do this. and Boy what a great taste compared to Wilton.

Usually I just wash my hands, dry them and then lightly dust my hands with cornstarch. I also use some vinyl to roll it out on and there is no need for the corn starch or icing sugar. No sticking!

Well, I normally never wear gloves but to protect my stitches I wore them
today. It was still sticky icon_sad.gif

Satin Ice is very easy to tint, and tasty too! It has gotten a little sticky on me too..but nothing that a little cornstarch/powdered sugar won't fix!!
