Isn't it called "air brush" when you can spray on the color from a machine with "air" also?
Maybe I'm behind the times some, but at the local Wal Mart here my sister and I were watching the lady use the "air brush" system putting a pink color -yes, with color and air - on parts of the cake. She asked if we needed help but I replied that we were just watching and that I'd like an air brush system one day. We then turned to walk away and my sister heard her make a disgusted noise and say "this isn't an air brush", then the 3 women decorating just started cackling like a bunch of old hens! They were pretty rude, especially the "Leader".
Hmmm, what do they call it at the stores now???
Gah...I hate rude people like that! It just burns my butt! Also as far as I know all aparatus that blows color onto cake is some kind of airbrush...<shrug>
Your not brain fried...those women are just plain Rude.I have never heard it called anything but an airbrush......There was no need for them to laugh at you like that..just goes to show their maturity level!!
Hiya ladies,
I want to just apologize for those rude associates. Makes me feel bad that they would do such a thing. Yer right I do take it personal, because I am the Lead associate for our bakery. I don't know what their problem was but, here at our store, yes, it is called "air-brushing".
I love to make "air-brushed" cakes. I have one that I do that is called "The Colorado Cake" I outline in chocolate icing (black bleeds too much) the mountains and the trees, then I airbrush the colors onto the cake for the sunset sky, purple mountains, teal tree line and then I use a #10 tip to pipe some Douglas Fir tree trunk and branches and then use the "grass tip" for making the needles of the tree in bright green and then regular green. Dang, I will have to take a pic of the next one I do and post for ya all.
Once again, I apologize for the rudeness of those associates. As for our store, my manager has a slogan, "Whatever it takes to make it right!"
Hi Chaptlps;
Thank you very much for your input, and apology. I'd very much like to see the picture of the cake you decorate, sounds like it's very pretty.
Something such as "customer service" around this area is rare today. I admit there are times when you occasionally receive it, but on the whole it is out the window.
This particular decorator ...I don't even want to call her that...was gruff, didn't take pride in her work, her appearance, or her manners. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the locality's attitude that allows this. It's a job, period.
Again, Thank You for your apology even though it wasn't your fault. It's nice to know there are individuals out there who care.
Joann
