Cinnamon Swirl Cake

Cinnamon and sugar create a magical combination in this cake recipe by Cake Central user bethallan. Top this with cream cheese frosting and this cake becomes the ultimate comfort food.

I used to make the boxed BC cinnamon swirl cake, but can’t find it anymore. I found this recipe, which is an awesome replacement! My customer said it tasted just like a Cinnabon!!

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 sm. box instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix first four ingredients.
  2. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well with electric mixer.
  3. Pour 1/2 batter in pan.
  4. Mix cinnamon and brown sugar together. Sprinkle half over half the batter in pan.
  5. Add rest of cake batter, sprinkle rest of sugar mixture on top, swirl the dough with a knife.
  6. Put in 350 degree oven. Bake 45 minutes. Do not open the door until 45 minutes is up. (It took 60 minutes baking time).

What kind of frosting is a good compliment to this cake recipe? Cream cheese I am guessing but anything else? Thanks for sharing this recipe, it sounds delicious!

I used to love the boxed BC mix. Absolutely loved this cake. Very moist! Getting more orders lately for this particular flavor. Thank you so much for posting this one!

I made this as one of the flavors for my daughters birthday cake and everyone raved about it! I frosted it with a cream cheese butter cream and then covered it with MMF. Thanks for the recipe, it's amazing!

maybe a silly question, but do you make the pudding and then add it, or do you just add the contents of the box of pudding? im assiuming you just add the yellow cake box contents, so i guess its the same with the pudding??

So excited! A friend of mine loves cinnamon rolls and requested a cinnamon roll cake for her birthday this year. I wasn't sure how to make one. This recipe arrived just in time. Can't wait to bake it. Thanks!

For questions about what frosting to use, I've always used just a little butter, powdered sugar, and milk recipe.  Make it light to medium consistency and use a pastry brush to brush it over it until it is a little saturated.  Let it dry.  I have always baked the cake in a bundt pan.
