I made this cake for my son's birthday cake. It was really good. I only gave it 9 stars because the cooking time was too long. Mine was done after only 30 minutes at 350 in two 8" pans. The flavor was great. I used an orange cream cheese filling and chocolate buttercream icing. Next time I will probably add a little orange extract to give it a little more punch, but I got rave reviews as is. I will also make a dark chocolate buttercream next time too. Thanks for the recipe. This is a keeper.

If you don't have buttermilk, you can buy dry buttermilk in the baking section or ***add 1 Tbsp. lemon juice (or white vinegar) to 1 cup of milk and let sit for 15 minutes.***

Great cake!!! ALthough I made the mistake of frosting it in a choclate cream cheese frosting....it broke in half! All my own fault. lol The flavor was fantastic! I also used 2 8" pans at 350 for 30mins then baked more as needed. I also used half vanilla and half orange extract instead of all vanilla. my family loved it....and oh my gosh was it MOIST!!!!! I live in 115+ heat and it is dry in AZ, so alot of cakes are not as moist as they could be. this one blew me away. It has a place in my little recipe stash!

Fantastic cake! I took out 1 ts of vanilla and replace it by the same quantity of Grand Marnier (orange liquor). It gave it a nice twist. I also added 2 tbsp of the orange pulp I had left from my squizzed oranges (for the 1 t orange juice asked in the original recipe).
