is this cake dense enough to cover w fondant????
I don't know if I did something wrong, but I didn't have luck with this recipe. I made a football cake and some cupcakes. Unfortunately they shrunk after they came out of the oven. It is odd, but although it is a moist cake, it seems dry at the same time. Most unfortunate because I LOVE the flavor of this cake. Like I said it is probably operator error, but I thought I would share.
I have used this recipe for about 3 cakes now and get great reviews on it. It's yummy. It's also pretty moist which is good. Although I used this in a 3d cake design, I would honestly not do it again. It held up ok but I was nervous the whole time because of the softness. I think just for sanity purposes on my part, I will make another one if it's for a 3d design. Overall though, it's amazing!!
This cake didn't work out for me at all! I tried the recipe two times and both times the cakes sunk horribly in the middle...which was too bad because I loved the flavor. =( The failure of the recipe was likely due to an error I made, but I don't see myself trying it for a third time. =(
Does anyone think this cake is dense enough for a 4 tier wedding cake?
I don't think I would honestly use this for a 4 tier wedding cake.....It's way too moist...it won't hold up!
My cake sank also. It was also too moist that it fell apart.
