This is the only yellow cake I use. It doesn’t make a good chocolate cake though. I’m interested in adapting it to lemon, etc. This makes a super moist cake and melts in your mouth. This recipe is the max for your 5 quart KA. I have halved it and it comes out perfect as well.
Delicious Large Quantity Cake Mix
Ingredients
- 2 Duncan Hines Butter Recipe cake mixes (I guess you could use any flavor)
- 2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 Cups Sugar
- 4 Sticks Butter (I used half butter, half margarine)
- 2 2/3 cups water
- 6 eggs
- 1 box French Vanilla Pudding Mix (instant)
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, mix until blended. Add cake mix, pudding, flour and baking powder. Blend on low while drizzling in water in a thin stream. Mix until smooth (doesn’t take long), and bake according to directions for your pan size.
is this enough/too much for a 12 inch round/square?
with this recipe you get 15 1/2 cups of batter. I use this recipe for my cousin wedding. could I susbitute the water for orange juice.
I uses orange juice for the water then came out great. I made cupcake filled with 1/4 cup of batter. bake for 18 to 20 min. Nice flat top. yeild 66 cupcakes. hope this help.
Wonderful recipe - I use all the time...thanks so much for sharing. This large recipe makes an 11 x 15" sheet with a little left over for a 6-inch round. I have make 1/2 recipe of this too...works fine.....for two 9-in layers. I always use 1/2 butter and 1/2 margarine. Wonderful flavor and moist.

What size box of pudding do you use?
what about the oil used in cake mix can i alternate butter with oil?
If I halved this recipe, would it do 3 8" layers or would I have too much or not enough? Not happy with the recipe I just made so need to re-bake in the am...
