This is just what I was looking for! I'm making a spice cake (birthday) and wanted cream cheese and apple flavored icing and filling. My only problem is how can I make decorations (roses, borders, etc.) Thanks
I'm making a pumpkin spice cake for a house warming this weekend & wanted something more than JUST plain cream cheese filling.... maple seems too sweet... this sounds like it would be a perfect match!!! Sending hubby to the store shortly to get me some apple cider!
ok, the cake was a hit! :) Everyone said they could eat the filling by itself!
When doing your cake, dont' forget to put the ring of icing to keep the filling in (I forgot & had to fix it...*oops*) I added a bit of pumpkin spice to flavor it just a bit further & needed a bit more cider to get any of the taste. For a bit of *oomph,* I fried up some sliced apples & layered it (cake, filling, apples, filling, cake) added a bit of texture & flavor... it was great! With what I had left over, I added some crisco & more sugar until the texture I needed to ice it! :) I don't' recommend that in humid situations though.
