I got this from a South African mayonnaise recipe booklet. It’s delicious. Everyone begs for seconds.
Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake
Instructions
1) Sift the dry ingredients together and set aside.
- 2) Beat the eggs, sugar and essence together until light and creamy. Add mayonnaise and water gradually, alternatively with the dry ingredients. Mix well and spoon into two greased 20cm cake tins.
- 3) Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees celcius for about 35 minutes. Leave to cool in pans before turning out onto cooling racks.
- 4) ICING: Cream the butter. Sift icing sugar and add to butter, beating well. Add essence and milk and mix well.
- 5)Spread over cake and enjo
