I looked and looked for a Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting and could not find one that I like. So I made my own. Its pretty simple and just the right mix of flavors….ENJOY!!!
Peanut Butter & Co. makes a dark chocolate peanut butter, I usually use this to make my choc/peanut butter frosting - it is great!! I delete the cocoa powder and just use the chocoalte peanut butter.
Wow just found this recipe and had to make it. I used my kitchen aide mixer and salted butter and wow it is so tasty. I added a little more milk as i like my icing creamy thank you for sharing right into my favorites it goes
hmmm... ive never made buttercream before but would like to try this. so im guessing i cream the butter and shortening first but at what point do i add the peanut butter??? thanks!
This was so delicious! I did it with chocolate cupcake and filled it with a peanut butter filling. It tasted like a Tastycake peanutbutter tandycake! But did anyone find it to be VERY thick and need a lot more milk than called for??
Beyond fantastic! Put it on PB cupcakes, which only had a hint of PB flavor. This frosting has a very nice PB flavor without being excessive, and actually the same applies to the chocolate. It has a perfect blend of the 2 flavors. And even though it is a buttercream it is not excessively sweet, the sweetness does not overpower the flavors.
I added 3 T of powdered dream whip (I think this helps stabilize BC's) and a pinch of salt. Amazing, really good!
This icing was a huge hit at my dad's birthday! He requested (at random) a chocolate peanut butter icing after I had found this recipe earlier in the day. I found I had to add a bit more milk for the creaminess that I like, but otherwise so easy and great flavor. Thanks!!
YUMMY! I just made this frosting (paired it with "A+ Babana Cake" cupcakes), and it came out delicious! Since there are no instructions, I'll write my method here in case anyone is wondering:
I creamed high-ratio shortening, unsalted butter, and PB together, then added the sugar and cocoa powder a little at a time. It becomes very dry, so in between, I added the vanilla and heavy cream (I didn't have milk, and the frosting turned out great with HC). I ended up using more than 4 tbsp.
Highly recommended! Thanks for sharing :-)
I just made this and put it on the "chocolate cupcakes by brownsugardeelights". I filled them with the Easy Bavarian Cream on this site and topped it with the Chocolate Peanut Butter icing. OMG I got the most amazing comments from people at work. They thought they were the BEST cupcakes they had ever had. I love getting recipes off this site.
Sounds good! Can't wait to try it out.

Do you use a mixer or mix by hand? Also unslated butter or salted?

If I add meringue powder do you think this will crust enough to do the VIVA papertowel method?
Just made this today and my cupcakes are delicious! And as mentioned before I added a lot more milk than what was stated on the recipe.
This is delicious! I added 2/3 cup of heavy whipping cream instead of milk. Perfection!
