I had a customer that wanted a strawberry lemonade cake and this is what I came up with! It was a huge hit and now my most popular cake! Hope you enjoy it!
INGREDIENTS
1 box lemon supreme cake mix
1 – 3.0 oz pkg strawberry flavored gelatin
4 eggs
1 stick butter (softened)
1 cup water
1/3 cup lemon juice
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven 350 degrees
Beat all ingredients with hand or stand mixer.
Pour cake pan that has been sprayed with pam or bakers joy
Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes clean
This looks amazing. What kind of frosting would you use for this?
sounds amazing. definitely want to try this one!!
Yummy!!!! Can't wait to try it!!!! I'm thinking a strawberry BC might be lovely for icing!!!!!
I am going to try this with whipped cream icing. Strawberry and lemon slices for garnish.
sounds delish.....will def. try..
did you use a icing on it?and if so what did you use BC or Cream cheese frosting?
I used BC and put a lemon cream filling in the middle
My daughters birthday is Sunday I would love to make this. How did you make the lemon cream filling
This is YUMMY! I made this cake for a co-worker and brought it to work this morning. It is gone! Thank you for sharing the recipe. I used strawberries for my filling and whipped cream/buttercream frosting! Huge Hit!
Thank you!
I made this cake. I personally did not enjoy it much, but everyone who tasted it did!!! I took one cake to work and my husband took the other one. The cakes disappeared very fast at two different places! My husband absolutely loved it because is so different than every cake cake out there. Thanks for the recipe. It's a keeper!
I made this for my daughter's bday and it was a hit! I just used Wilton's buttercream icing recipe and it was great!
The Lemon Supreme cake mix (Duncan Hines) calls for 3 eggs. Would you still add the 4 eggs with knowing this?
Great cake!!!! My kids loved it! I used strawberry buttercream to ice and fill then wrapped it in fondant. Looked and smelled wonderful when we cut into it.
This cake is AWESOME! I made cupcakes out of this to take to my family's for Easter. Garnished each one with a half of a strawberry and a quarter slice of lemon - they were adorable to boot. Everyone loved them!:)
can I just say WOW!, I made this cake for Easter, I covered it with cream cheese BC, everyone loved it, staying one of my favorites, thanks
The cake by itself tastes like Fruit Loops cereal so to balance it out, I used Coconut Cream Frosting. PERFECT!! Everyone loved it.
What a great summer-time celebration cake! Thank-you so much and I recommend giving this cake a try!!! I used the Lemon Curd Buttercream as a filling and strawberry flavored buttercream for the outside. This was my first time using lemon curd...it was fun! It such a nice surprise for a cake....thanks.
Does anyone know if this recipe is dense enough to carve slightly and cover with fondant and stack??
Does it have to be the lemon supreme cake mix or can it be a comparable cake mix like betty crocker super moist lemon?
response to fairmaiden: no it is not a dense cake
I didn't care for this cake and, unfortunately, the person I gave it to didn't either! You never know until you try! Happy baking :)
Great recipe but a little to fluffy for large fondant cakes. Crumbled very easily. Tasted great!
My cake hardly rose. It's insanely dense...any suggestions as to what could have gone wrong?
Ok, I have experimented and made this cake, carved it, covered it in fondant and have stacked it-worked perfectly. I do suggest after taking it out of the oven and while it is still hot, to put a tea towel on top of the cake and lightly press down, this will help made a denser cake. Taste was lovely, everyone said it tasted just like a strawberry lemonade drink. I made a buttercream with lemonade concentrate and a strawberry filling..yum!
I'm making this recipe as a batch of cupcakes right now. I hadn't yet decided what type of icing to top them with and I had a few choices, so I waited for the first batch, broke one up and passed it around to the men of the house and they couldn't figure out if they tasted the lemon or the strawberry first. They really like it, I really like it, now for us to decide on what kind of icing to use! Thanks!
This was a quick great recipe. I'm trying them with cupcakes next. Thanks for posting!
This is delicious! Sweet and Tart - a great compliment to Buttercream. Definitely will be my Featured Spring Flavor!! TFS!
I had to come back and say that this is my most requested flavor-it is just awesome! I make mine with strawberry IMBC and have had nothing but rave reviews. I have made this in cupcakes, carved cakes, and cake pops..it rocks all around!
This is absolutely delicious!! Who would guess such a simple recipe would yield such fabulous results. I was hesitant reading a few of the reviews but was totally impressed (and I'm very picky!). I made cake pops the first go-round and they are my new favorite flavor. I just love the combo of the tart and sweet lemon and strawberry.
Thank you very much for sharing this recipe with us. I made this recipe for my friends wedding this past weekend, and it was a hit. Very fresh summer flavor. Thanks again
