Red Velvet Cupcakes

Wonderful treat for Valentine's day!!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup butter, softened 2 cups sugar 4 eggs 1 cup sour cream 1/2 cup milk red food coloring

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350*. Mix dry ingredients. Set aside. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Mix in sour cream, milk, food color and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until blended. Spoon into 30 paper- lined muffin cups, filling about 1/2 full. Bake 20-25 minutes. Cool.

In the instructions you say to add the vanilla, but there is no vanilla in the ingredient list. Could you tell us how much vanilla please?
My guess would be a TSP!
I have just baked them and they taste delicious, however they didn't come out red??? just like chocolate- i did put lots of colouring, next time i will put less coco powder. Thank you ;-)
Also mix dry ingredients which I did then further read directions and see it says mix butter and sugar, but I already uses sugar so my fault but perhaps someone else will read this and catch that first.
That recipe calls for way too much cocoa powder, 3 tsps should suffice. Maybe it's a Chocolate Velvet Cake?
