Mtn Dew Frosting ( Mountain Dew) -
By: BlueBerryBakerPosted by BlueBerryBaker
Made this to go with my Mtn Dew Cake recipe. This yields enough to cover and fill a 9" cake. Will crust and is perfect for using under fondant.Ingredients
Amount Ingredient 1 cup butter, unsalted and room temperature 1/2 cup crisco (shortening) 1 teaspoon lime zest 1 teaspoon lime juice 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest 1/2 teaspoon orange zest 3/4 teaspoon real orange extract 1 teaspoon real lemon extract 2 teaspoons Mountain Dew soda pop 2 Tablespoons sweetened condensed milk 1 1/2 - 2 lbs powdered sugar (3/4 bag) Directions
In stand mixer, cream butter with crisco till smooth. Next add in extracts, zests, Mountain Dew, and condensed milk. Beat till creamy on med/high speed. Reduce speed to lowest setting (place clean dish towel over mixer - keeps sugar dust from getting all over everything). Slowly add in powered sugar, approx 1c at a time, beating till mixed. Use approx. 3/4 full of the 2lb bag. Can add more powered sugar if desired. This makes a nice spreadable frosting, perfect for filling and piping. Store any left over frosting in refrigerator. Bring to room temperature and stir to re-fluff. - Shelf stable cream cheese icing
