Mississippi Mud Cake

My mother made this cake for me years ago and I fell in love with it’s rich chocolate and marshmallow taste.
Mississippi Mud Cake
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 2 sticks butter
- 4 eggs (slightly beaten)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 package miniature marshmallows
Frosting:
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 stick softened butter not melted
Instructions
- Melt butter and cocoa together.
- Remove from heat and stir in sugar and eggs.
- Mix well.
- Add flour, salt, chopped nuts and vanilla.
- Mix well.
- Spoon batter into a well greased pan 9X13x2
- Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until done.
- Sprinkle marshmallows on top of warm cake.
- Cover with chocolate frosting.
- Let cool and cut into squares.
- Frosting Directions:
- Combine sugar, cocoa, butter and milk.
- Mix well until smooth and spread on cake.
