This is a close up of the peacock on the Twilight Over Tokyo cake. It was my first bird. I used a paper mache egg for the body, built the neck, head, and the base of the tail with pastillage. After that dried, I put red gumpaste over the whole piece, and then added the feathers. It had to be done in layers because I sprayed it with raspberry luster. The details were added after each layer dried. It only took a week. :)
