It was easy! I took the cookie and brushed it with strained apricot preserves (for a flavorful glue) and rolled out the chocolate clay and then rolled over that with a textured rolling pin. I then put that over the cookie and gently pressed in. The fondant was done the same way with the exception I marbled it first. The cameos were white chocolate fondant which was dried overnight, then gilded.

These look amazing! What recipe did you use for the chocolate clay?

Oh how pretty and beautiful these cookies are, love the look and design. You did a wonderful job on them. If you don't mind my asking, what is chocolate clay? is it a chocolate candy?

I used the Wilton Chocolate Clay recipe, although I'm in the market for a new one. The Wilton one is 1 bag chocolate candy melts melted with 1/3 C corn syrup. Pour onto wax paper and let set overnight. Take small pieces at a time and knead until pliable. After I did that I took the entire batch and rolled it out kind of thin and then went over it with a textured rolling pin and put on the cookie.
