I use a meringue based all butter and it smooths out very nice! I apply a crumb coat and chill and apply a thicker layer that is chilled also. you can scrape the excess off with a decorating triangle. It has taken me years to get it smooth and even I still have flaws!
Thanks so much! When it comes to cakes I am self taught so I encourage everyone to just go for it! If you would like to see my website just send me a PM!
I use a swiss buttern cream so they just stick on nicely. I actually had a oops. I applied some of the bubbles and during transit on rolled down three tiers. Needless to say I had to do some repair work! I transported the entire cake assembled with the exception of some bubbles. Thanks so much!
I just love your style..... esp. the sugar bubbles!! This cake is awesome! Saw your website and I love love love the baby shower cake with the ducky, bathtub, and bubbles too....too cute!
God I wish I could make bubbles!!!! I am to afraid of all the equipment I need My dream is to someday make bubbles! Anyone wanna come over and show me how?
All my eqipment is not all sugar equipment. The only thing I have that cost me anything is my silpat mats. I use a sports ball pump and my toaster oven to keep the sugar warm. ai have a blow torch from home depot and that is it! Thanks!!
Is there any way at all that you might be able to do a tutorial on the bubbles to post on CC. I know there are a LOT of people who would cry from happieness if you would. (me) PLEASE!!!! or if you could PM me that would work too
