This cake features fondant dogwood blooms and butterflies. They are handpainted with petal dust and lemon extract. The scroll work is royal icing on fondant and is painted with gold luster dust. This photo was taken by the very talented Clark Berry at www.clarkberry.com.
Hello Susie108, I love your cake very much it is beautiful are the butterflies handpainted as well, if so please tell how you did it. Thanking you in advance.
Hi zuckerblumen and wrightway! The butterflies were made of fondant with a blue silicon mold. I don't recall the brand. The butterflies were then handpainted with petal dust and extract. My favorite butterfly on the cake was a zebra butterfly -you can see the tip of it's wing on the far left of the cake. The color of the fondant on the tiers was a mixture of avacado green and sky blue. I hope this helps. Thanks to everyone for the gracious comments!
This cake is so stunning! The sheer work involved in creating this piece of art is awe inspiring!!! Congratulations for your Honorable mention in the wedding comp... although this definitely is a WINNING cake!!! Congratulations
