My entry in the Great American Cake Show. Made from fondant mixed with Tylose, used royal icing or chocolate for the glue, on the box, depending on what I was attaching. All figures were hand modeled also using Satin Ice fondant with tylose. TFL
Congrats on your 1st Place I was at the show and you deserve it!!! A quick question, what did you use to cut the fondant? all the lines were sharp and neat. xirrin@cs.com
I should have known this was you!! I went to the show on Sunday and LOVED this cake!! (I didn't get to enter this year due to my pregnancy.) Amazing job, as always!!!!!
Thank you everyone for all of the wonderful comments. I used a pizza cutter and a ruler to cut the fondant. I covered my board in ivory fondant, used a thin dowel to make the boards, and a veining tool to mark the fondant to look like woodgrain. I don't have an airbrush, so I painted the floor using ivory americacolor, mixed in Everclear. I would paint the floor, let it dry and give it another coat until I got the color I wanted. I won Grand Prize for the Divisional Show and Decorators Choice.
Beautiful photo of an amazing creation. the photo doesn't quite do it justice, however. The piece was flawless without being "sterile" if you know what I mean. truely inspiring.
I've seen this before; how did I miss commenting on it? It's absolutely PERFECT. I couldn't be any more jealous if I tried! Seriously, words escape me. GORGEOUS.
