Quiltid logo cake
Uploaded By: chocolatepah
I made this to celebrate my husband's birthday and the relaunch of his company's website, quiltid.com. It's not perfect, but it's my first time working with fondant. I learned a lot for my next one! I made marshmallow fondant and colored it with Wilton gel colors. I used a french fry cutter to cut out squares, then pieced the quilt together on wax paper. The quilt has a backing of white fondant. Underneath is a chocolate cake layered and covered with vanilla buttercream.

I just pulled out my french fry cutter the other day and thought, "This would be great for cutting fondant squares!" I guess great minds do think alike!

How clever to use a french fry cutter! Isn't it funny how we cake decorators start looking at appliances/gadgets differently? Smile
