I really, highly, truly do NOT recommend that brides make their own wedding cake!!!!! But I did. With this one: top tier was real (white cake with vanilla buttercream & vanilla fondant). I also made sheet cakes of banana cake with chocolate ganache. WHEW I'm glad it's done with & I'm now a married woman! LOL! TFL!
It's gorgeous! Although I am sure it was a real PITA with all the other things you were doing, it probably also made it that much more special. Especially since it's gorgeous! (Did I already say that? )
I just love it, very elegant and I love the fact that it doesn't need a cake topper, I really don't like them is this cut out fondant or stencil, looks very difficult but it's lovely. Please share how you did it. Congratulations on your wedding!!!
'Stunning!' is not quite a beautiful enough word for this cake! What a masterpiece! You should be very, very proud! Is the black stenciled on or what? BTW ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
it's absolutely stunning!! love the pattern-it must have taken ages in an already busy schedule(boy do you know how to handle stress!!) congrats on your marriage too
Thank you everyone!! My mom bought me the stencil kit (I saw them on Martha Stewart's website, there's a link there). So I used black royal icing & the stencils. Thank you all again!
Gorgeous Cake!!!! Love the design. Is that fondant applique? Maybe you could share how you made that design. I always wondered how to do that. I think it is awesome that you made your own wedding cake. I know that had to take alot of your time but to me it looks like it was well worth it. Congratulations and you did a marvelous job on your cake
That's sooo gorgeous! I made a Damask pattern with Royal Icing but it didn't turn out. The pieces kept breaking. I ended up having to pipe the Damask pattern directly on the cake. When you settle down I'd and get some free time I'd love to hear how you did yours so perfectly.
